WELCOME

As the producer of the 1967 World Karate Championships here in the great city of Seattle, it is my pleasure to welcome you to these matches. For those of you who are from out-of-state and overseas, I sincerely hope that your visit to the scenic Northwest, will be an enjoyable and memorable one.

We here at the World Karate Championships endorse the goals established by the many high-calibre Karate men around the world by:

• Unifying the various systems of Karate.
• Promoting a spirit of friendly competition within the styles.
• Providing a better understanding of the various styles.
• Providing exponents of the various systems an opportunity to demonstrate their talents.
• Elevating the standards of the art to new heights on a world-wide scale.
• Providing the groundwork for establishing the art as a competitive sport.
• Stimulating public interest.
• Establishing the true ideal of Karate.

The success of this event, as with all such functions, depends on the teamwork and cooperation of all concerned. I, therefore, extend my warmest thanks to my committeemen, to the many officials who have given so generously of their time and to the contestants and demonstrators who have consented to display their skills. To those of you who are spectators and special guests, welcome to the Wonderful World of Karate.
