C. Injuries:
When an injury occurs during the contest and the match cannot be
continued, the judges must make the decision on the following basis: |
|
I. If the injured contestant was fouled, he is the
winner. |
|
2. If the injury cannot be ascertained, and the
injured is unable to continue, he automatically loses. |
|
3. If the injury is due to the contestant’s own
carlessness, then his opponent shall be declared the winner. |
|
4. If the injured man is able to compete, but
refuses to do so, then he shall be declared the loser. |
|
5. In the case of an injury, time shall stop at
that time and will start again upon the referee’s command. |
|
D. Draws: There will not be any draws; contestants
fight until a point is scored. |
|
E. Byes: During
the first round of eliminations, a bye shall constitute on uncontested win. |
|
F. Forfeits:
The contestant who forfeits before or during a match automatically makes
the remaining contestant the winner. |
|
G. Disqualification:
When a contestant has committed any infraction of the rules, the referee
shall immediately disqualify him or warn him that second similar infraction
will cause him to lose the contest. Infractions are as follows: |
|
I. Any contestant who wilfully injures his
opponent, or repeatedly demonstrates a dangerous lack of control that may
lead to serious injury. |
|
2. When a contestant ignores the referee’s
instructions. |
|
3. When a
contestant holds or clinches unnecessarily. |
4. When a
contestant bites or claws. |
5. When a
contestant loses his temper. |
6. When a
contestant and/or members of his group are disrespectful to either the
opponent, referee, judges, or officials. |
7.
Falsifying of rank or rate shall be automatic disqualification, and forfeit
of all claims to awards or places. |
8. Division
jumping shall be automatic disqualification, and forfeit of all claims to
awards or places. |
9.
Sideline coaching or harassing of an opponent may be cause for
disqualification if the referee feels it is warranted. |

H. Time
Outs: It will be the referee’s discretion as to time outs, up to the MAXIMUM of two 12] minutes for
injuries, adjusting Gi’s relocating in the contest. |
I. Referee,
judges: The referee shall have the sole responsibility for the conduct of
the bout. His decisions shall be final and without appeal. He shall be
impartial and shall meet promptly and in a spirit of good sportsmanship any
situation which developes unexpectedly in the course of a match. The referee
shall act as a judge in declaring a point. The judges shall be stationed in
the corner areas and are expected to move along the sidelines so as to have
an excellent view of the match at all times. They shall not encroach upon the
contest area and will endeavor to stay opposite each other. Judges and
referees will not, if at all
possible, officiate bouts with their own students or style, as contestants. |

|
A single but controlled attack,
undeflected or unblocked, landing directly to one of the vital points, shall
be considered by the judges as constituting one point provided that the
strongly focused attack is executed with (a) good form and balance (b) proper
distance and (c) explosive but controlled force. |
