Mayor Braman It is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to the participants in the Northwest Open Invitational Karate Tournament, and to its sponsors, the Northwest Karate Black Belt Association. An organization which has for its ideals the development of sportsmanship, of self-control, of proper-physical conditioning, of sincerity, and which seeks to build character and teach proper behavior to the men and young men of our community is worthy of our encouragement and support. I wish you every success in working toward these ideals and in the conduct of your Tournament. J. D. Braman, Mayor. |
Steve Armstrong As the producer of the 1968 Northwest Open Karate Championships here in the great city of Seattle, it is my pleasure to welcome you to these matches. The Northwest Open Karate Championships are held annually to provider further encouragement of the art to the Karate enthusiasists, and to seek promotion and understanding of the art among the general public. ALL of the better known Karate people here in the Pacific Northwest and many from other parts in the world have entered into this tournament to help endorse those goals established by Karate men throughout the world. Like all functions, the success of any event is dependent upon the teamwork and cooperation of all concerned. I therefore wholeheartedly extend a word of thanks to my committeemen, to the many officials who have given so freely of their time and to the many contestants and demonstrators who have consented to display their talents. To those of you who are spectators and special guests, I thank you for your moral support. |
