What is a Northwest Karate
Black Belt Association Tournament?

First of all, an Association approved Karate Tournament guarantees the contestants, the audience, and the management an intangible something that comes with time. The elusive something that you get when you buy "brand name" products. Something built on years of cooperation and fair dealing. Something on which there is no price tag. INTEGRITY!

The public knows that when a karate Tournament is advertised as "NWKBBA approved" they will see top competitors, top demonstrations and a well run tournament. The public as well as the competitors well know that the tournament will be operated under tried and tested rules, that are fair to all competitors, rules that are new and up to date. They know that all members working or competing will do their best in fulfilling any obligations.

The contesting Karate-Ka's know that they will be treated fairly in all of their contests, that they will have competent judges and that throphies or awards will be awarded at the tournament. It is only when this is possible that the holding of competition is meaningful. Where there is no such organization or any standards or rules to govern the contest, the tournament becomes not only a game, but a comedy.

The Northwest Karate Black Belt Association was founded with the objective of promoting just and fair Karate and Karate Tournaments here in the Northwest. The purpose of the NWKBBA is not to regulate the styles of the schools of Karate or the techniques, but to provide a common ground on which Karate and Karate Tournaments can be held safely, under strict standards.

The Northwest Karate Black Belt Association concerns itself with all phases of Karate and looks upon Karate as a way of life as well as a livelihood. The Association and its members cooperate fully with any other legitimate group in the Martial Arts field.

The Northwest Karate Black Belt Association does not put any restrictions on its members as to what tournaments they may or may not enter. The main concern of the Association is to promote good Karate here in the Northwest.

The Northwest Karate Black Belt Association does not require that every aspiring young Karate-Ka belong to the Association; but we remind them that the Association founders are the people who have mande Karate what it is in the Northwest today.

The door to the NWKBBA is open to all earnest and responsible Karate organizations.
